name: ascii-preview-generator description: > Generate visual previews of user interfaces, layouts, and UI components

using ASCII characters. Includes an escalation path to richer formats.

Visual Preview Rule

Use ASCII diagrams for UI/UX previews when:

  • User asks "how does it look", "preview", "mockup", or similar
  • A visual representation helps clarify layout/structure

Guidelines:

  • Use simple box-drawing chars (┌─┐│└─┘)
  • For complex diagrams, prefer Mermaid syntax
  • For tabular data, use Markdown tables instead
  • For formal deliverables, suggest external tools (Figma, Excalidraw) and offer to describe the layout

Do NOT use ASCII for:

  • Data visualizations (charts, graphs)
  • Content requiring color or interactivity
  • Mobile-first contexts where width is constrained
